Kalsubai with the height of 1646 m [5400 ft] is famous as its the highest peak of the Sahyadri Range as well as Maharashtra. It commands a beautiful view of the surrounding lush green territory. Naneghat is a mountain pass in the Sahyadri range near Junnar. It stretches over the western ghats through an ancient stone laid hiking trail to the Naneghat plateau. This pass was an ancient trade route that linked the seaports of Sopara and Kalyan with the economic settlements in Nasik & Paithan. The name ‘nane’ means coin & ‘ghat’ means pass. This name was given since it was used as a toll booth to collect toll from traders crossing the hills. While travelling on Kalyan-Ahmednagar road, one can easily get a glimpse of a thumb-like peak called ‘Nanyacha angtha’ a little after Murbad. Matheran has garnered a reputation of one of the most favourite hill-stations around Mumbai for various reasons. The bountiful rains, lush greenery and waterfalls around. Matheran covers an area of 8 square kilometers in Sahyadris. This Fantastic spot was discovered in 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the collector of Thane district. Garbett point is located on South-west side of Matheran with grand view of the plateau.Climate here is very cool with some breath taking views.

Sarasgad is situated on the borders of Pali. A very huge wall of Sarasgad is at the north south border of Pali. This fort was mainly used to keep a check on the surrounding regions. From fort, ‘Pali’ and all surrounding areas can be seen. There are very few hill forts to the north of Sahyadri’s and Tandulwadi is one of them. It lies 104 km north of Mumbai near a distant suburb called Saphale. It was mainly used as a watch tower to guard nearby areas. It gives a bird’s eye view of the town of Saphale, the Zanzorli lake and the confluence of Surya and Vaitarna rivers. The primary ownership of the fort lied with the Gujarat Sultanate which was later transferred to the Portugues & Marathas in the early 18th century. The fort now lies in ruins but offers a great opportunity for nature lovers and historians to explore.

Kolad is a spectacular location to experience the pleasure of white water river rafting. Kundalika River which starts in Tamhini Ghat and runs through Kolad village is recognised as perfect place for white water rafting for amateurs. This activity is conducted between two dams over a stretch of approx 12Km. We start on the lower side of Bhira Dam and the water runs in to Dolwahal dam. Since it is situated between two dams the safety is higher since there are no unknown changes in the levels of water and because of this Kundalika river and Kolad region is recognised as water sports hub. The River Kundalika has a perfect setting with up to grade 3 rapids, exciting descents, extreme beauty owing to its cascading waterfalls, green meadows with the picturesque backdrop of the Sahyadris.

Kohoj is a hill fort situated 100 km north of Mumbai on the Wada-Manor highway. It is around 800 years old and is one of the forts surrendered to the Mughals in the Purandar treaty. Today, this fort serves as a perfect trekking destination during monsoons. A beautiful Pazhar lake lies to the base of this mountain. A rock resembling the shape of a human is a major point of attraction at the top.  Apart from this pillar, one can also find Kohoj devi temple near to a small lake at the top.

Height of Waterfall 115 feet. Trek is very easy with beautiful panoramic views of the surroundings. You will walk beside the Dhom dam while crossing a small water stream. This short trek is one of the most scenic treks that can be done easily by all age groups. The waterfall lies just below a small village known as Sagachi wadi. The famous Garbett point trek can be done via this route from the village. On the top of this village, the beautiful Matheran range can be seen.

The fort is named after saint Goraknath, who used to perform penance here. It was used in the era of Shivaji Maharaj, mainly as a stopover point from Junnar via Naneghat. The adjoining Machindragad peak is named after the teacher-disciple relationship of Machindranath and Gorakhnath. During monsoon season, the Gorakhgad Trek takes on a whole new appearance. While there, take a moment to observe, listen and smell and you will feel the forest come alive around you. The view of the numerous cascading waterfalls and a large range of wildflowers only add to its charm.
